No matter the reason for beginning this journey, at the heart of it all it is a Spiritual one. After all, we are talking about the Personal Structure and its habitual patterns because we all desire for Something More. That desire is a knowing. We know there is something more whether we read it in a book somewhere or had it said to us or just somehow have always sensed Something Bigger than us, we know It exists…and that we are connected to It. But something’s not working for us the way we know it can. Believing this keeps us searching – even when it hurts. Somehow, we know that what exists is ours. Somehow, we believe the desire we have for that Something More doesn’t originate with us – carrying with it an implicit promise that we will receive It. Our Personalities are cunning. They trick us. They make us feel safe but in reality, they are keeping us in fear of It. Fear that we won’t find It. Fear that we won’t like It. Fear of losing our small self and not knowing the True Self will bring. When I came across this poem, it spoke to my unconscious fear. Maybe it will speak to yours.
Our Deepest Fear
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel unsure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. As we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
~ Marianne Williamson
It’s in us all. Everyone of us. It’s not something we attain, but something we uncover and discover. Something that is already there and hidden by our blindness when we try and see through the lens of our Personalities.
“…we have everything we need for a godly life.”
Peter The Apostle
